MOSTLY AUTUMN IN CONCERT

MOSTLY AUTUMN RECORDS

Greetings all, Bryan here, hope it's been a glorious year so far for you. How time flies – I can't believe Autumn is already sharing a glass with the summer – and I dooo wonder to myself….. does the summer weep in defeat of the oncoming September, exhausted and broken? who knows, I certainly don't. Welcome the mist and mellow fruitfulness, icy days and sharp skies, fire, snow and stars, beer and wine and nostalgia that breweth invigorating songs that can no longer be ignored, provoking a distant sense of romance long gone but yet still to come…….
Anyway I'll stop there, I do actually love the summer also.
As you probably know we are preparing for three very special shows in September , where we will be playing "Sight Of Day" in it's entirely amongst other classic Mostly Autumn. Tackling  the big tunes like Native Spirit and Sight Of Day is a very exciting proposition, as well as a challenge, can't wait to see how they evolve "live". If you can get to any of these shows I know they will be very special.
Livvy and I would like to thank everyone for all the good will messages about little baby Autumn, she's all good and healthy thanks. There are rare but occasional moments of glass shattering vocal pitches coming from her already, she may have her daddy's voice methinks  but it's incredible having her around, we love every second.
Anyway, hope to see you soon
Cheers
Bryan

Rare Late Sixties Album by Philippe DeBarge with The Pretty Things “Rock St. Trop” Remastered & Reworked!

Features bonus tracks!

London - Pioneering rockers Phil May & Wally Waller (of The Pretty Things) present the highest quality release to date of their collaboration with French playboy Philippe DeBarge. To be released on September 1st by Madfish Records, the album is now remastered and reworked and features bonus tracks and rare photos!

It was late August in 1969 when Phil May and Wally Waller were flown to St. Tropez by Philippe DeBarge (a French wealthy playboy), and taken to the DeBarge family estate - a magnet for the rich and famous of the era, from politicians to film and rock stars. DeBarge had serious money and wanted to make a serious album, with him as the front man. He'd done his research. He knew exactly who he wanted to make that album with. They were The Pretty Things.

At this time, songwriters May and Waller were at their most prolific but they were between albums, between tours. When DeBarge came calling, it was hard to come up with a good reason why not to go, so they went, did the deal and soon penned and recorded Philippe's project back in London at Nova Studios. And when "S.F. Sorrow" sales picked up, EMI wanted a new album and "Parachute" took over. The Philippe DeBarge project was dropped and didn't see commercial release until 2009.

Now restored and reworked with rare photos and new liner notes by Wally Waller, this is the finest release of the Philippe DeBarge sessions to date. Released as a CD presented in a digipack packaging with a 16-page booklet.

The Pretty Things created some of the most exciting and innovative records of the sixties and early seventies. Winners of the Hero award at the 2009 Mojo Honours, the band have been name checked over the years by an array of artists ranging from The Clash, David Bowie and Aerosmith through to The Libertines and Kasabian.

Kaipa launch lyric video for 'What's Behind the Fields'

Legendary Swedish progressive rockers Kaipa, led by mastermind Hans Lundin, are set to release their new studio album 'Children of the Sounds' on September 22nd, 2017. Now they are pleased to reveal a lyric video for the album's closing track 'What's Behind the Fields' and you can see that here:

Hans comments:
"I think we all want to explore what's behind the fields. Sometimes we take that trip and sometimes it's just a journey to a place somewhere in our rare and open minds."

The album will be available as Special Edition CD Digipak, Gatefold Black 2LP + CD, Gatefold Clear 2LP + CD (exclusive to the InsideOut shop), Gatefold dark green 2LP + CD (also available at the InsideOut shop) & digital download. Pre-order now here: http://smarturl.it/ChildrenOfTheSounds

'What's Behind the Fields' is available immediately digitally when you pre-order the album on iTunes or Amazon MP3, as well as being available on all major streaming services.

Furthermore, a special offer including either the LP or CD plus a post card signed by Hans Lundin is exclusively available via Burning Shed: http://bit.ly/KaipaBurningShedUK

The band also recently released a lyric video for the album's title track which you can see here: https://youtu.be/jlSDKpP2lCQ

The band's 13th album, and 8th since the act were reborn in 2002, this album features the line-up of Lundin, accompanied by Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry), Morgan Ågren (Karmakanic), Jonas Reingold (The Flower Kings, Karmakanic), Patrik Lundström (Ritual) & Aleena Gibson, plus a guest appearance from violinist Elin Rubinsztein.

Hans comments: "In November 2014 when I was still filled with all the energy I had captured during the summer I started to write the new songs. What really made me push the start button this time was a magic spirit that filled my whole body after visiting a concert with Morgan Ågren and his band 'Mats & Morgan Band'. I woke up the morning after the concert and still felt that enormous groove filling every part of my consciousness. I realized that I had to canalize all this energy somewhere so I decided to start to write some new music. I had also found a lot of inspiration from the long bicycle rides that I made during the summer in the open land-scape around Uppsala. It was like if the notes were rising up from the billowing fields I passed and the words were falling like raindrops from the clear sky. So now I suddenly had found the key to open up all these ideas that had been slumbering at the back of my mind for a while. All the beauty and the wondrous inspiration from nature in combination with this
"enormous groove" made me create five long songs during the next months."

The track-listing for the album is as follows:
1.     Children of the Sounds 11:31
2.     On The Edge of New Horizons 17:10
3.     Like A Serpentine 12:52
4.     The Shadowy Sunlight 6:57
5.     What's Behind The Fields 9:31

The result is as colourful musically and lyrically as Kaipa devotees will expect from the band's rich discography dating back to the debut opus released in 1975. Formed in 1973, Kaipa never shied away from experimentation, embracing fresh elements and sounds manifesting especially on the albums released in the 2000's. 'Children Of The Sounds' is no exception, the album burns with creative fervour and spirit most vividly displayed on the title track, the 17 minutes long 'On The Edge Of New Horizons' or closing track 'What's Behind The Fields'. It embodies a powerful, positive energy and artistic brilliance that is irresistible and true to the genre's very essence.

Drum Legend and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Bill Bruford Releases Definitive Box Set, “Bruford 1977-1980: Seems Like A Lifetime Ago”!

Pre-order the Limited Edition 8-disc Box Set, with unreleased, remixed or remastered material & a signed certificate

Drum legend and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bill Bruford, best known for his work with YES, King Crimson, Genesis and his prolific solo career, is releasing the definitive boxed set "Bruford 1977-1980: Seems Like A Lifetime Ago." Scheduled for release on Winterfold Records on October 28th, pre-orders are now being taken for the Limited Edition 8-disc set, which features unreleased, remixed or remastered material & a signed certificate.

WATCH THE PREVIEWS:

Bill Bruford reflects on embarking on a solo career and forming Bruford: "I wanted to play drums in a certain way and if you want to hear them played in that way you've got to write the song. You've got to control the audio environment in which your drums are going to be heard and once you're doing that you're into a solo career. Looking back, the band despatched these tricky little compositions with a smile on its face; with brio, vigour and only a handful of wrong notes. The band was over-caffeinated - short on subtlety but long on the sort of majestic stately themes with antecedents in progressive rock that set it apart from contemporaneous American outfits. We were a rock group with a jazz sensibility, rather than a jazz group with rock leanings."

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?
A new 8-disc limited edition set of previously unreleased, remixed, or remastered material from the Bruford band of the late 1970s, presented in a 12" box complete with 16-page colour booklet and a signed, numbered certificate of authentication. Four gatefold sleeves contain two discs each:

Disc 1 DVD: Feels Good To Me: 5.1 surround sound mix and original 1978 mix remastered
Disc 2 CD: Feels Good To Me: 2017 Jakko Jakszyk remix from original master tapes
Disc 3 DVD: One of a Kind: 5.1 surround sound mix and original 1979 mix remastered plus additional audio
Disc 4 CD: One of a Kind: 2017 Jakko Jakszyk remix from original master tapes
Disc 5 CD: Gradually Going Tornado: remastered
Disc 6 CD: The Bruford Tapes: remastered with bonus track
Disc 7 CD: Live at the Venue: previously unreleased: recorded London 1980
Disc 8 CD: The 4th Album Rehearsal Sessions: previously unreleased: eighteen sketches of new material recorded 1980

ALSO INCLUDES:
16-page 12" booklet with a Sid Smith essay, new interviews with producer, engineer, band members, eyewitnesses and others, previously unseen archive visual material, and the complete band date sheet with contemporary critical reaction. Also two black and white 10" x 8" band photos, one A3 size colour poster accompanying "Live at the Venue", and one signed, numbered certificate of authentication. The boxed set is produced by Bill Bruford.

Containing the collected works of Bruford on one extraordinary 6cd/2dvd-a box set, "Seems Like A Lifetime Ago" is a magnificent testament to one of the UK's most inventive and important Progressive Fusion bands.

Featuring 2017 remastered versions of the albums "Feels Good To Me" (1978), "One Of A Kind" (1979), "The Bruford Tapes" (1979), and "Gradually Going Tornado" (1980), the set additionally includes the previously unreleased "Live At The Venue" (from 1980) and the highly sought after "4th Album Rehearsal Sessions" (also from 1980).

"Bruford 1977-1980: Seems Like A Lifetime Ago" showcases the prodigious talents of Bill Bruford, Dave Stewart, the late Allan Holdsworth (who the album is dedicated to), Jeff Berlin and The 'Unknown' John Clark.

Says Dave Stewart, "The great thing about Bill is that he's not just a drummer. He doesn't just think about what he's playing...he's thinking about the whole picture; thinking about soundscapes; what the guitar is doing; the arrangement; the keyboard sounds and so on. He's got this composer/arranger mentality which was there from the beginning and he evolved through the life of the band. He's a deep-thinking musician and it was great working with him for that very reason."

Jeff Berlin adds, "I learned a lot from Bill. Bill was the person who opened more doors for me not only with regards to reputation...he opened up doors to me about sound, presentation, interplay, the elements of a performance, the elements of group interaction. I think it was one of the happiest and musically productive periods I ever had in my career. I was working with fine human beings and with fine musicians."

"Feels Good To Me" and "One Of A Kind" are available on both remastered CD and DVD-a, the latter featuring 2017 5.1 mixes by Jakko Jakszyk. Says King Crimson's Jakszyk on remixing "Feels Good To Me" and "One Of A Kind" into surround sound, "I use the original mixes as a guide and Bill handed over the whole 5.1 remix to me. It becomes an immersive experience. I'm not talking about flying instruments around 360 degrees. While that's possible it's also ridiculous...it's all about sculpting the sound into three dimensions. The new versions of these albums sound much bigger, fatter and warmer and whilst I'm keen to take credit for that the reality is that this is Dave Stewart, Jeff Berlin, Bill Bruford and Allan Holdsworth, and it's not just about their playing abilities; it's that they've got their sound together and what you need to do is replicate that and not mess about with it."

Soul Enema and ex-Orphaned Land's Yossi Sassi premier Aral Sea II video

Soul Enema and ex-Orphaned Land's Yossi
Sassi premier Aral Sea II video

Progressive Rock/Metal act Soul Enema premieres a video clip for the track "Aral Sea II – Dustbin of History". The track features a guest appearance by Yossi Sassi (ex-Orphaned Land, Yossi Sassi Band), performing rhythm and solo parts on bouzoukitara - a unique custom-made instrument combining Bouzouki and Electric Guitar. "Aral Sea II" is the second part of the Aral Sea trilogy, dedicated to the environmental disaster of the former sea - one of the biggest ecological problems of our time", comments keyboard player and songwriter Constantin Glantz. "This video features magnificent time-lapse footage taken by photographer Denis Frantsouzov on his journey through the Aral Sea/Ustyurt Plateau region. We tried to capture the reflection of an irreversible loss, and bid a final farewell to the Aral Sea – once a blooming oasis in the desert, now literally turned to dust as a result of reckless human activity". "Aral Sea II" is a part of a band's new album, titled "Of Clans and Clones and Clowns", featuring 70+ minutes of music with special guests such as Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), Yossi Sassi (ex-Orphaned Land), and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Symphony X). The album is fully streaming at the Bandcamp site. - https://soulenema.bandcamp.com

NORWAY’S LEADING SYMPHONIC PROGGERS WOBBLER. ALBUM DETAILS REVEALED

Norway's leading Symphonic Prog band WOBBLER
have inked a deal with Karisma Records and are
set to release their fourth full-length album,
"From Silence to Somewhere" on the 20th October.

Formed in Hønefoss in 1999, WOBBLER's current lineup features current and former members of TUSMØRKE, WHITE WILLOW, THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN and JAGA JAZZIST. With Lars Fredrik Frøislie on keyboards and backing vocals, Kristian Karl Hultgren on bass, bass clarinet and bass pedals, Martin Nordrum Kneppen on drums, percussion and recorder, Andreas Wettergreen Strømman Prestmo on vocals, guitar, glockenspiel and percussion, and Geir Marius Bergom Halleland on lead guitar and backing vocals, the band can avail itself of a considerable array of instruments that have a huge, and very interesting impact, on the overall sound.

"From Silence to Somewhere" offers up a sound that is enigmatic, multi-flavoured and adventurous, with the use of copious amounts of Mellotron, Moog, Hammond, Chamberlin and other classical analogue keyboards, and of course the renowned Rickenbacker Bass . The guitar riffs go from poignant to edgy. Melancholy harmonies combine with powerful crescendos and high-energy, spinet-driven passages, flavoured with a touch of Flamenco and Italian Renaissance music to produce and album comprising four epic tracks that explore the idea of metamorphosis and alchemy. It is a natural continuation from WOBBLER's previous albums, but with a darker, more introspective edge.

With artwork by Thomas Kaldhol (Samuel Jackson 5, Panzerpappa, Lukas Kasha etc) , and a running time of 47 minutes, tracklisting on "From Silence to Somewhere" is as follows:
1. From Silence to Somewhere
2. Rendered in Shades of Green
3. Fermented Hours
4. Foxlight

More information about WOBBLER can be found on the band's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/wobblerofficial , whilst their previous releases can be heard at https://wobbler.bandcamp.com/

Bad Dreams' new album Chrysalis

BAD DREAMS TEAMS UP WITH DIRECT-TO-FAN INNOVATORS PLEDGEMUSIC FOR THE RELEASE OF THEIR NEW RECORD "CHRYSALIS"

Argentinian progressive rock luminaries Bad Dreams and PledgeMusic have joined forces, and the band has launched their first ever crowdfunding campaign for the release of their third album entitled "Chrysalis" which will hit the shelves worldwide on November 17th, 2017.

"It's been a very busy year at the Bad Dreams camp and we have decided to harness the momentum and use all our energies into making a killer new record" – says Gabriel Agudo, the band vocalist – "We have teamed up with Pledge Music to be able to bring our project from inception to completion with the help of those who really matter: you, OUR FANS. It is with only with your support that we will be able to see this through. Our new album Chrysalis will be out next November, and we are asking you to step in and join us to make that dream a reality"

Hailing from the land better known for tango melodies, Bad Dreams is a group of veteran musicians who had honed their chops as a Genesis tribute band for 10 years. After the release their first album "Apocalypse of the Mercy" in 2014, they have been forging a name for themselves in the international prog-rock scene. "Apocalypse of the Mercy" garnered worldwide recognition among classic and progressive rock fans, and the band opened for Steve Hackett and played alongside Marillion's Steve Rothery and his band during their South American leg. In 2015 they became the first South American band to be invited to the prestigious Cruise to the Edge celebration, sharing the bill with household names in the prog-rock scene like Yes, Marillion, Mike Portnoy, Änglagård, PFM, Neal Morse Band, Lifesigns, Allan Holdsworth, and many others; and performing two very successful shows in front of an audience which was unaware of the band and welcomed then with warm, standing ovations.

2016 saw the coming of their sophomore record, entitled "Déjà vu", marking a significant turning point for the band. "Déjà vu" was a record which pandered to no label, no media framework and no pre-conceived rules, taking a reminiscent of the prog most glorious melodies to a new dramatic level, coalescing all the passion, virtuosity and mellotron-ladden melodies trademark of the band in an upbeat, nostalgia-drenched musical ride. Invited one more time to the Cruise to the Edge Festival aboard the Brilliance of the Seas ship, this time around they stole the show in a couple of occasions in front of feverish and clamoring crowds, and their flawless performance paved the way for their third invitation to the event in February 2018.

A new chapter in the history of the band is now unfolding and Jorge Tenesini, the band founder and keyboardist speaks about it: "We wanted to take a new approach to the recording of our new album and decided it won't be a better way to do so than bringing our fans with us along the ride. In our PledgeMusic store (www.pledgemusic.com/projects/bad-dreams) they can pre-order the new record, plus a variety of other exclusive items we wanted to include, making the album buying process even more interesting. But we didn't stop there: we decided to also throw in our first ever live release in the form of a Limited Box-Set including a Blu Ray and a DVD of our concert during Cruise to the Edge last February which we named "Live From The Edge". We are also preparing to document the recording process and offer all of you who decide to join us in this journey some special behind the scene access to the creative process as it progresses. Tell your family and friends and let's do this together!"

For the recording of "Chrysalis" the Argentinian have enlisted some special guest: singers Lorelei and Durga McBroom, also known as "The McBroom Sisters", who performed as live backing vocals for Pink Floyd since 1989, will lend their angelical voices to a track entitled "Goblin's Seduction", tune which will also include a fantastic saxophone solo courtesy of Jamison Smeltz. Jota Morelli, considered by many the greatest drummer to ever be born in the land of Pampas (with an impressive resume as the stickman for Al Jarreau, Gloria Gaynor, Alejandro Sanz, Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson and countless more) will sit under the drumkit in "Change" and the title track "Chrysalis", which will also have a unique melody-soaked guitar solo, once again played by the band longtime friend Steve Rothery. Angel Mahler, a world-renowned composer, pianist and orchestra conductor will be featured in another track.

On the other hand, the "Live From The Edge" Blu Ray/DVD Box will include the band's presentation at The Pool Stage during the last Cruise to the Edge in February 2017, including a guest appearance by Steve Rothery. Both discs will be house in a single box, with the Blu Ray sporting three audio tracks: Stereo Uncompressed PCM, Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS-HD Master Audio. A picture gallery of the show will be included in both DVD and Blu Ray discs.

JEFF KOLLMAN touring Japan with COSMOSQUAD, reunites with GLENN HUGHES for Australia & New Zealand dates, announced 'Shedding Skin' re-issue

August 17, 2017 - Globe trotting guitarist extraordinaire, JEFF KOLLMAN (BOMBASTIC MEATBATS, ALAN PARSONS LIVE PROJECT, ASIA feat. In addition, Kollman has announced the remastered re-issue of his acclaimed third solo album, "Shedding Skin", originally released in 1999.

States Kollman: "Well, back on the road after squeezing in some family vacation time in the Midwest.  No rest for the wicked as they say!  Extremely excited to finally get back over to Japan with COSMOSQUAD and playing "The Morbid Tango" material for the fans. Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo - here we come!  Also, in case you haven't heard yet, I'll be joining 'Big Daddy' GLENN HUGHES for a half dozen shows in Australia and New Zealand in September and into early October.  Looking forward to re-connecting on stage - it's been quite a while since we last played together but Glenn is always amazing to work with.  We will perform full concerts of classic DEEP PURPLE material.  So many great tracks on "Burn", "Stormbringer", and "Come Taste The Band".  Glenn and Purple fans will be in for a real treat!  And in-between those two treks I'll be doing ASIA and a pair of ROCK PACK shows - those are always fun to do.  How could it not when you're standing next to singers like Lou Gramm, Steve Augeri, Bobby Kimball, and John Payne playing some of the most iconic rock songs ever written? - Last but not least, I'm finally getting around to putting my third solo album, "Shedding Skin", back in print.  I just got the re-mastered master back from Borislav Dimitrov at HiZ Productions who also mastered"The Morbid Tango" for us, and it's sounding killer! Premiata Forneria Marconi reveal cover and more details of "Emotional Tattoos"

InsideOut Music Header

To the very day, Premiata Forneria Marconi (aka PFM) is considered the most influential and respected Italian rock band and on October 27th, 2017 InsideOutMusic will release the band's new studio album "Emotional Tattoos". Now, the band reveals the album's striking cover artwork created by Stefano Bonora / Artkademy.

The band comments: "On the cover you see a fantastic spaceship run by Franz and Patrick, bringing the band to places never explored before, introducing the audience into the new PFM world, where music has not only one identity but evolves and embraces many genres. PFM is famous for never repeating previous records and "Emotional Tattoos" is an album that will leave emotions on the skin, like when a spaceship lands in a fantastic world with vegetation and animals in harmony with each other."

PFM began writing their new opus in 2016, started recording in early 2017 and finished both an English and Italian version of the over an hour long record in July at Metropolis Recording Studio with Alessandro Marcantoni.

PFM is a very eclectic and exuberant musical group with a distinctive style that impressively combines rock, progressive, and classical music into one mesmerizing sonic entity. Formed in 1971, the band quickly gained a prominent place on the international scene by making it to the Billboard charts (for 1973's 'Photos Of Ghosts'), and winning a Gold record in Japan while constantly ruling the charts in their home country until today. Recently, PFM were honored with position #50 in the "UK Classic Rock Hall of Fame" of the 100 most important artists in the world.

'Emotional Tattoos', PFM's new album, marks the return of the band's trademark sound after two more experimental releases: "PFM in Classic, from Mozart to Celebration", dedicated to leading European classical music composers; and 'States of Imagination', a journey of sound and images comprising eight short movies, each with a different theme and atmosphere.

The album can already be pre-ordered in the following formats from the official InsideOutMusic online store:

Wishbone Ash News Flash

Although we're in the thick of the 'dog days of summer' with insects
buzzing, high humidity, thunderstorms, and heat, spending September on
the road through the midwest and east coast will be glorious! Check
out the full list of tour dates at wishboneash.com/tourdates

The band has taken a bit of time off between tours to enjoy the
summer. I've been keeping busy and have spent my time attending a lot
of shows. Reflecting back, I felt particularly inspired by some of the
small, intimate affairs from the local open-mic nights here in
Connecticut to the club dates of artists I admire, like David Lindley
and Bill Frisell. And that's not to mention the bigger shows, like
seeing Sir Paul McCartney in Miami and, heaviest of all, Rammstein in
Long Island! All this musical diversity has cleansed and revitalized
my palate. I'm thankful to Roger Filgate, Ed Accardi, Chris Davis, and
Kevin Hupp who each played a big role in inspiring me to play in many
different contexts this summer.

For the Tough & Tender Tour, we're looking at some of our songs in a
different light and will be introducing an acoustic interlude during
the set. We're also commemorating the 45th anniversary of the Argus
album and will feature the entire album for the Edwardsville and
Pittsburgh shows.

I know all the members of Wishbone Ash are excited to regroup with our
new member, Mark Abrahams, on guitar. We had a teaser of what he'll
bring to the stage on two recent festival dates: Sweden Rock and The
Magic Blues Festival. You will not be disappointed!

I'm very excited to be working with Mark as we rework the famous twin
lead guitar sound to make it more true to the original. There's a
legacy and respect for the music that always holds this band to such a
high standard and I'm grateful for that.

Speaking of legacy, the Vintage Years Box Set is nearly reaching final
completion and I'm hopeful for its release towards the end of the
year. It's been a 3.5 year project in-the-making so far!

We're all really looking forward to seeing our friends and fans out
there on the road. We're bringing along some cool new merchandise
items like hats and tees featuring our revamped logo. As usual, we'll
be meeting and greeting our fans at the merch stall post-show.

ProgDay International Progressive Music Festival Release

It's time to announce that the 23rd edition of ProgDay, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is on schedule to run on this September 2nd and 3rd, 2017, at Storybook Farm.

LONGEST-RUNNING PROGRESSIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL
IN WORLD TO BE HELD LABOR DAY WEEKEND IN CHAPEL HILL

CHAPEL HILL – A legendary progressive rock band from France and one of best keyboardists in progressive music highlight the 2017 ProgDay International Progressive Music Festival, which will be held Sept. 2 and 3 at Storybook Farm near Chapel Hill. France's Shylock, with internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer Frédéric L'Epée, will make their first appearance in the U.S. in the band's storied 40-year history. Shylock will close out the festival on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 5:45 p.m. Returning to the Storybook stage is Swedish keyboard genius Pär Lindh, whose varied and, at times, frenetic, keyboard skills are reminiscent of Keith Emerson. In fact, he plans to perform a tribute to Emerson at ProgDay. He will take the stage on Saturday, Sept. 2, at 1:45 p.m.

The longest-running progressive music festival in the world also will feature seven other bands from across the world. They are Sonar (Switzerland) with special guest David Torn (US), Sonus Umbra (US), iNFiNiEN (US), Bubblemath (US), Ephemeral Sun (US), Hedersleben (Multinational), and the Dave Kerzner Band (US). Taking their cues from the likes of King Crimson, Yes, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer, the groups offer a diversity of progressive music that has been a hallmark of all 22 previous ProgDay festival editions.

The music starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, and at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3. The family-friendly and fun atmosphere also will include vendors who will provide rare opportunities to buy hard-to- get progressive rock recordings, as well as other merchandise and food. Single-day and weekend passes are available at the gate for $75. and $125; students (with ID) half price, children under 16 free with guardian. Complete festival information – including band summaries and ticket sales – is available online at www.progday.net.

ANUBIS GATE RELEASE FIRST VIDEO SINGLE "THE COMBAT"

With six highly acclaimed albums, what can be said about a seventh album? It would be easy to say the following: It is our most mature album. Or how about this: We built on everything that came before it and added new twists and turns. Or this is our most accessible album perhaps.

But that wouldn't be quite true. In fact it might even be quite untrue. Except for the part about building on past experiences, since everybody does that.

What would have been mature was to make an album resembling our previous album "Horizons", going with the beautiful feel-good vibe of that album (though its topics were not all that feel-good)

Instead, the writing of this album simply did not go in that direction. While Covered In Black is a highly melodic affair, it is also challenging in a way none of our previous albums are. Dealing with, and dedicated to, people in dark places, this albums has a darker and more complex edge to it. Allowing ourselves to dig deeper into our collective pool of musical experiences and knowledge, the inspirations come from far across the spectrum. Ranging from classical chamber music, seventies prog and extending to thrash, with very eastern influences popping up,this is an album that is best heard as one piece, even if the individual tracks can stand on their own. Since we've come this far we also allowed ourselves that freedom.

Is it a concept album? No. But it is a theme album. About people in dark places. From psychopaths, assassins to the more modern topics of being at the receiving end of what is bad about social media. Topics of lifelong failure and revenge are touched upon. The ten-song-long album has two suites, both consisting of three songs. One has the songs spread here and there on the album, while the other is connected as one long piece if you wish to listen to it that way. Wonderfully old-fashioned and just the way we like it. And it is, we feel, simply the best album we've ever done.

The album is produced by Kim Olesen and Jacob Hansen as per good tradition.
