Believe to re-release their debut album "Hope to See Another Day"

More great news for the fans of Believe, one of the most interesting and original bands on the Polish art/prog-rock scene. "Hope to See Another Day", the band's debut album from 2006 will be re-released by Metal Mind Productions in a new digipak edition. The album will be remastered and enriched with two additional tracks.

Mirek Gil, Believe's guitarist, comments the re-release of the album: „I was really happy with the re-release proposal put forward by Metal Mind Productions, as I thought it would be a waste to put this record away and simply forget about it. It was a very important album for me and for the band – it was our debut release. For me, it was also the first album recorded after a longer break - after the disbandment of Collage and after putting my other project Mr Gil on hold. You can hear on this record an extreme hunger for playing the guitar. There is a lot of guitar, it actually dominates the music. The singar was already known, as Tomek Różycki had sung on Collage's album "Baśnie". Satomi, Japanese violinist with her own style of playing the violin, was a real treat for the listeners. The keyboard parts were played by Adam Miłosz. "Hope to see another Day" is an outstanding track from this album and we still play it during our shows. This song is representative of what the band was at that period – it's dynamic and heavy, but at the same time melancholy and peaceful. The album was recorded in Winicjusz Chrust's studio in Sulejówko and mastering was done by Tom Mayer in Hamburg. The remastered edition of "Hope to See Another Day" includes two additional tracks – "Liar" and "Pain" recorded live in Konin in 2006. It was a very special show with wonderful atmosphere and audience. Both tracks have brand new arrangements, new guitar solos and violin parts. I recommend this re-release as this album is really special."
The new digipak edition of "Hope to See Another Day" album will be released by Metal Mind Productions on March, 25th in Europe and May, 7th in USA (via MVD).

The band formed in 2004 by guitarist Mirek Gil, should be known already by fans of Polish prog-rock legend Collage and Satellite. Not only was Mirek a founding member and main song writer of Collage, but he played with Satellite as well.  The band's debut album "Hope to See Another Day" was released in 2006, six years later Believe return with their second live DVD entitled "Seeing is Believing". Filmed in 2011 in Wyspiański Theater in Katowice (Poland), this brand new DVD documents how much the band has changed: Believe released three more excellent studio albums, letting their music grow more brilliantly intricate and sublime than ever before; Tomek Różycki was substituted by the charismatic singer Karol Wróblewski, whose deep and distinctive voice contributes much to the style and mood of Believe's music; the new keyboard player Konrad Wantrych joined their ranks, enriching their music with his stylish and technically superb soundscapes. During this unique evening in Wyspiański Theater Believe primarily presented material from their fourth album „World Is Round" (Metal Mind Productions, 2010).  Believe's fifth studio album entitled "The Warmest Sun In Winter" will be released by Metal Mind Productions on April, 22nd in Europe and May, 7th in USA (via MVD). In May Believe will be a part of the famous US' festival ROSfest 2013!

The Flaming Lips Pre-order The New Album, "The Terror" Now

The Flaming Lips will release their thirteenth studio album titled, The Terror, on April 2nd in the US and April 1st in Europe.

It is comprised of nine original compositions that reflect a darker-hued spectrum than previous works, along with a more inward-looking lyrical perspective than one might expect — but then again, maybe not. It's up to you, the listener, to decide what it means to you.

Wayne Coyne explains, "Why would we make this music that is The Terror - this bleak, disturbing record? I don't really want to know the answer that I think is coming. Maybe this is the beginning of the answer."

The Terror is a bold and expressive journey that has evolved over The Lips' nearly 30-year tended garden of sonic delights that ebbs and flows with extraordinary splashes of darkness and light, pleasure and pain, chaos and order. As we've come to know The Flaming Lips, the real beauty lies with the knowledge that to expect the unexpected is all part of the manic fun.

"If we have love, give love and know love," Coyne says, "we are truly alive and if there is no love, there would be no life. The Terror, we know now, that even without love, life goes on…we just go on…There is no mercy killing."

FOCUS UK TOUR 2013

Three chanses left to see Focus:

Jan 30 London Islington Assembly UK
Jan 31 Swansea The Garage UK
Feb 01 Sevenoaks Stag Theatre UK

Below a few hailing comments....

Peter Marshall 30-01-13 18:34:53

Thijs, I too was at the Bromsgrove gig last night. In my mid-teens - a long time ago - Focus were the band that I listened to more than any other. Your music is timeless... I was drawn to it then, and I've appreciated it so much more as I've aged and have recently entered my fifties. I used to lay awake at night listening to "Hamburger Concerto" and "Moving Waves" - I was a geek before geeks were invented - and knew that it would all make sense some day ! It was lovely meeting you... I work with "closed-off" professional people... but meeting you at last felt like I was meeting a long-lost friend. Music is so powerful.... Best wishes, Peter

Simon Richards 30-01-13 12:06:06

I went to your concert at the Artix in Bromsgrove yesterday. I grew up listening to your music in the 1970's. I'd never have believed it would be possible to see you in a small venue at that time. Thanks for a great concert.

Martin Davies 30-01-13 11:54:03

An excellent concert last night at Bromsgrove Artrix..superb musicianship from each individual member of the band with excellent solos, and fusion/blending together to perform memorable previous items and also new material from the lovely Focus X album.
I have attended the gigs over the last four years at Cardiff The Globe, Cheltenham Town Hall, Porth The Pop Factory, Robin 2 Wolverhampton and last night. Please keep coming back to the UK..as every event is so enjoyable, to hear such great music and instrumental artistry.

Peter Stanbridge 28-01-13 14:59:35

Absolutely fantastic concert at High Wycombe. Thank you for such an extraordinarily vibrant and fresh concert. And wonderful to see Pierre van der Linden live - for me the first time. Genuinely such a brilliant drummer who takes focus music to a new dimension and who was greatly missed post Focus III. Menno played exemplary guitar on the older Focus but has also brought a very sound style for Focus X, brilliant guitar player. Bobby Jacobs was also excellent playing some nice rhythmic subtleties. Finally it was a life ambition for me to see Thijs Van Leer - you are real magic in concert. I love your humor but also your compositions and brilliant playing.

The Bands musical diet consists mainly on Camel's classic era. the 70's, with albums like "Camel" "Mirage" "The Snow goose" "Moonmadness" and others. While playing a 2 hour set it's almost impossible to leave a camel fan unsatisfied.

16.3.13 @ Bergkeller,Reichenbach, Germany
18.3.13 @ OK Andaluzja, Piekary Slaskie, Poland

SPIRITUAL BEGGARS to release new album, 'Earth Blues,' in April

Sweden's classic rock heavyweights SPIRITUAL BEGGARS are currently wrapping up work on their 8th studio album, which will be entitled Earth Blues and released in Spring 2013 via InsideOut Music. SPIRITUAL BEGGARS will celebrate their 20th anniversary as band with this release and by playing shows, including a European tour in April.

Guitarist and songwriter Michael Amott comments on the recordings of Earth Blues:

"We started the recording process of 'Earth Blues' with an eight day long session at 'Fat Guitar Studios' (Sweden) with knob twiddler Roberth Ekholm, a truly great dude who really knows how to capture a band jamming live, sadly a rare quality in recording engineers nowadays! We continued with some overdubs at various studios in Sweden, and it's all come together super easy this time. We're finishing up the mixes now with Staffan Karlsson (SPIRITUAL BEGGARS, SHINING, etc.) at his studio in Halmstad, Sweden. Sonically, I think this might be our finest hour yet. It's a raw, heavy and honest record."

In order to promote this upcoming release as well as the band's anniversary, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS have confirmed a European tour for April with support by German rockers ZODIAC, as well as some European summer festivals. See below for all upcoming dates:

"...an exhilarating amalgam of show tunes, metal, gospel, techno, prog, pop, rock and musical genres that only exist in Townsend's head." -- DECIBEL MAGAZINE

"Devin Townsend continues to excel at being one of the noteworthy prolific musicians in metal today with the excellent 'Epicloud'." -- LAMBGOAT.com

"Devin Townsend's new album, 'Epicloud,' is incredible; it might be Devy's White Album...It melds a whole lot of different styles into a series of dangerously catchy tunes; a whole lot of the album isn't metal, but every second of it of is great, and yes, most certainly EPIC." -- METAL SUCKS.net

"...a bombastic and catchy record, filled to the brim with some of the best pop metal you will ever find...'Epicloud' is without a doubt the strongest collection of songs on any Townsend record to date." -- HEAVY BLOG IS HEAVY.com

"Although he's known world-wide for his heavy riffing, there has always been a lot more than just that going on in his music. Listening to 'Epicloud's opening tune 'True North' you get classical choruses, power-metal layering, Scandinavian folk and frightfully meaty sludge metal slashing." -- VANCOUVER PROVINCE

Alchemy - details of the work on the new project by Clive Nolan

As previously announced, "Alchemy" album will be released on March, 4th in Europe and April, 9th in USA (via MVD). This release will, however, be preceded by the world premiere of "Alchemy" show at the famous Wyspianski Theatre in Katowice, Poland on February 22, where it will be recorded for the purposes of a DVD to be released by Metal Mind Productions later this year. The double album will be available for purchase at the Theatre prior to the official release date.

Recordings for Clive Nolan's second musical, 'Alchemy' have been completed in December. For the cast of 'Alchemy', consisting of eleven principal singers, seven instrumentalists and the chorus, summer and autumn of 2012 was an extremely busy time. Due to the complexity of the musical as well as a large number of artists involved, the recording process turned out to be more than a multilevel experience, and the one that had to be realised in several stages and different locations.

The major bulk of work was done at the London-based Thin Ice Studios where, under the rigid eye of Clive Nolan himself, numerous vocal and orchestral sessions were completed and a desired sound was achieved. However, some of the recordings - Mark Westwood's guitars and Claudio Momberg's piano parts, were brought to life at Birmingham studio, Nomad 51, and Tauridstudios in Santiago, Chile respectively.

Scott Higham: "Working with Clive Nolan again on his second musical 'Alchemy' has been another fantastic journey. As a drummer it is very interesting to play with lots of twists and turns... just like the story! The recording process is always great fun. Clive and I work together on every track in the studio, making sure every part is perfect for the Musical... Nothing is overlooked! We have worked together this way on many projects over the years, so I have a very good understanding of what he requires for his Musicals. We have a great team on 'Alchemy' and I hope everyone enjoys the show in Poland!"

Apart from the previously announced principal cast, including such giants of progressive rock as Damian Wilson, Tracy Hitchings, Paul Menel and more, 'Alchemy' team was joined by a horn player, Ian Stott and a violinist, Penny Gee. Moreover, as a special treat, the CD album will feature short guest appearances from John Mitchell and a man behind 'Alchemy' artwork, a graphic designer Graeme Bell. Many others joined the chorus or performed some vocal lines adding up to the grandeur of the project's scale.

Paul Menel: "When Lord Nolan offered me the part of Benjamin Greaves, I jumped at the chance. To fulfil a lifelong ambition to play a baddie and finally lay to rest my goody two shoes image as 'the Peter Pan of prog'! With Clive's blessing I rubbed a bit of grit into the character and gargled some gravel into his voice, but he's retained the 'just following orders' innocence that he started with. Me, lackey to Andy Sears' Jagman! I think there may be sparks onstage and that's before the pyrotechnics start!"

'Alchemy' artists are very busy these days getting ready for the international premiere of the musical, scheduled for February 22, which will be filmed for the DVD at Wyspianski Theatre in Katowice. A concert version of the musical will feature mostly unvaried cast. The only alteration will be the part of Jessamine performed on a CD by a Uruguayan stage and TV artist, Noel Calcaterra. In Katowice, this role will be sung by a London musical theatre actress, Soheila Clifford.

Clive Nolan: "For me, the creation of 'Alchemy' has been a three year journey so far. I have lived with the growing story and the developing music almost on a daily basis. It has become an integral part of my life. Recording the CD, in many ways, helps to provide an official stamp on the project! It has been a very positive process, and now that the finished recordings are being mixed, I am finally hearing the songs as they were intended... this is a wonderful feeling."

Eric Clapton Releases 21st Studio Album "Old Sock"

On the heels of a sold-out Crossroads Guitar Festival and the announcement of a major world tour, Eric Clapton announced today the release of his 21st studio album and his first album since 2010. The album, OLD SOCK produced by Eric Clapton, Doyle Bramhall II, Justin Stanley and Simon Climie, features two new original songs "Every Little Thing" and "Gotta Get Over." OLD SOCK will be released March 12 on Clapton's Bushbranch label, distributed through a new collaboration with SurfDog Records in the USA and Canada, and released by Polydor Records in the rest of world.

The new album is a collection of some of Clapton's favorite songs spanning from his childhood to present day that highlights his vast appreciation and knowledge of music. From Leadbelly to J.J. Cale; Peter Tosh to George Gershwin; Hank Snow to Gary Moore and Taj Mahal, this record is a celebration of so many who have inspired Clapton's rich musical life. Clapton has always had a remarkable ability to recognize great songs and a gift for knowing how to uniquely interpret them, as he does on Old Sock. The album explores romantic standards of the 30's, reggae, soul, rock, and includes a stand out playful collaboration with Paul McCartney, to create an experience that is quintessential Clapton.

Clapton assembled a band for the recordings consisting of longtime collaborators Steve Gadd (drums), Willie Weeks (bass) and Chris Stainton (keyboards) along with some surprise guest additions. JJ Cale joins the song "Angel" for backing vocals and guitar, Chaka Khan joins as backing vocalist for "Get On Over," Steve Winwood on the Hammond B3 Organ on "Still Got The Blues," Paul McCartney on bass/vocals on "All of Me," Jim Keltner on drums for "Our Love is Here To Stay".
